Abstract

The concentration, size distribution, shape characteristic of suspended dust and silica (Si02) content in rock taken at ordinary and special sinking place where have different condition of ventilation of the coal mine were studied and obtained following results:
(1) The concentration of dust in each ordinary and special sinking places of the coal mine was 487.7 and 191.0. mppcf respectively.
(2) The concentration of silica in rock in each places was 37.10/6 and 41.0% respectively.
(3) The size of suspended dust was distributed to 31.8% . at less than 0.5p, 67.2% at the range of
0.5-3p, .1.0% at the range of 3-5,u and almost none at the size o .more than 5,u. This means that the
fine dust (0.5-5.0,u) which capable to reach deep lung was 68.2%.
(4) Many sharp edge dust was observed among the suspended dust as shown in Fig. 1.
(5) Accordingly, dust environment we studied are considered as harmful condition to worker, and the appropriate measure to prevent producing dust was discussed
